Decatur ~ Betty Sue Denman Merritt, 90, a homemaker and beloved wife, mother, grand-mother and great grandmother, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Dallas.
Celebration is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Monday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Dr. Brian Bosworth will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Patti Gage, Mary Lambert, Sam Renshaw, Sis Renshaw, Bonnie Rawlings, Virginia Renfro, Norma Wiley, and Annie Lee Wood.
Betty Sue was born on June 2, 1925 to Earl and Sue (Ransome) Denman in Lufkin, Texas. She was united in marriage to Dr. Ben Clarence Merritt on November 23, 1946 in Lufkin. Betty Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Ben C. Merritt.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Bill Merritt and wife Debbie of Fort Worth, her daughter, Suzy Childress and husband R.J. of Dallas; her son, Marshall Merritt and wife Leslie of Dallas; her son, Joe Merritt and wife Holly of Dallas; her brother, William E. Denman of Euless; her grandchildren, Drew Childress and wife Ceason of Dallas, Suzannah Merritt of Mansfield, Claire Merritt of Dallas, Will Merritt of Dallas, Matthew Merritt of Dallas, and Ben Merritt of Dallas; her great granddaughter, Parker Childress; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
