Rhome ~ Jesse Coker, 94, a lifetime farmer and retiree from General Dynamics, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Decatur.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Dr. Joe Tims will officiate. Pallbearers include John McPherson, Jim Rose, Steve Otremba, Travis Rose, Austin Ledford and, Patrick Coker. Honorary Pallbearers include Logan Otremba and Michael Coker.
Jesse was born on October 21, 1923 to Jesse and Josephine (Knight) Coker in Collin County, Texas. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Nell Calvert on March 12, 1946 in Rhome, Texas. Jesse retired from General Dynamics where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark. Jesse served his country in the United States Army and served in War World II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth Coker and, his 4 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Coker of Rhome; his daughter, Nancy McPherson and husband Paul of Rhome; his son, Ronny Coker and wife Marlyn of Hugh Springs, Texas; his grandchildren, Cheryl Rose and husband Jim, John McPherson and wife Tracy, Jennifer Otremba and husband Steve, Michael Coker, Michelle Goodson, and Kendra Sims; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; his brother, Sammie Coker; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
