Wayne Hartley

Decatur ~ Wayne Hartley, 68, a builder, went to be with our Lord Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Decatur Civic Center Grand Hall with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Talus Murphy, Lavina Swenson, Joyce Lawrence and Rachel Potter will officiate. Pallbearers include Steve Newton, Darryl Durkee, Doug Myers, Patrick Hockaday, Clayton Smith, Brayden Hartley, Conway Smith, and Larry Davis..

Wayne was born on January 13, 1946 to Leo and Dorothy (Miles) Hartley in Pearson, Oklahoma. He made his choice to serve God in August 1965. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Christine Chambers on September 14, 1968 in Dallas. He was a residential and commercial builder. Wayne was a member of the Wise County Veterans Group, where he served as the finance officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; 1 sister; 1 brother; 1 grandson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Christine Hartley of Decatur; his son, Joe Hartley and wife Candy of Georgetown; his daughters, Sheila Smith and husband Shawn of Krum and Shonna Cole and husband Adam of Frisco; his grandchildren, Clayton, Cheyenne and Conway Smith, Brayden and Charlee Rose Hartley, and Ryan Cole; his sisters, Marie Norcross and husband James of Golden, Colorado and Jean Bloemker and husband Bernard of Effington, Illinois; his brother, Charley Hartley of Deer Park, Texas; 9 nephews and 6 nieces; numerous cousins and a host of friends.
