Decatur ~ Addie Mae Bohn Blackwell, 95, a retired switchboard operator, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 18 2015, at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, Texas. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Ken May will officiate. Pallbearers include Chuck Greever, Jerry Bethrum, Wayne Alexander, Matthew Bohn, Carson Bohn, and Frank Maxwell. Honorary Pallbearers are Stephen Wren, Harold Mosely, and Jim Keen.
Addie was born on November 19, 1919 to Henry and Sadie (Cooper) McCullough in Irving, Texas. She was united in marriage to Wesley Bohn until his passing in 1980. Addie was united in marriage to Sam Blackwell on September 23, 1995 in Decatur. She worked 20 years for the Denton State School and enjoyed every minute of it. Addie’s favorite past time was gardening. The love of her life was her only son, Jerry Bohn. She was a member and loved her church family at First Baptist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley Bohn; her son, Jerry Bohn.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Sam Blackwell of Decatur; her grandchildren, J.R. Bohn and wife Cathy of Graham, Cary Bohn and wife Ashlee of Decatur, and Cheri Beazley and husband Mike of Arkansas; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
