Decatur ~ Aleita Bell Houchens, 91, a retired teacher, went to be with our Lord Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in West Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Rev. Joey Vick will officiate. Pallbearers include John Simpson, John Simpson Jr., James Simpson, Kelvin Jack Swinney, Scott Langletz, Kenneth George Houchens, and Kenneth Lee Vargas.
Bell was born on May 19, 1922 to George and Josy (Parsons) Boring in Bridgeport, Texas. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Houchens who preceded her in death in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, David Whale; her second husband, Kenneth Houchens; her daughter, Hila Whale; her grandsons, Michael Whale and David Vargas; her siblings, Arthur, Edward, George, Ernest, Amos, Albert, Brady, Truman, Horace, Delila, Viola, Laverne, Bula, Willie, Mary Inez, and infant sibling.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Glen David Whale and wife Barbie of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her daughter, Linda Whale Vargas and husband Cesar of Decatur; her son, Jerry Lee Whale and Sue Barr of Winchester, Virginia; her son, Kenneth George Houchens and wife Brenda of Decatur; her grandchildren, Michelle, Tanya, Shawn, Kenneth, Raquel, Nicolas, Alex, Austin, Georgeanna, and Madison; her great grandchildren, Isabelle, Iva Marie, Olivia, Lola, and Gabriell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
