Fort Worth: Alfred Leon Berg, 85, formerly of Decatur, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2008 in Fort Worth.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27th at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Tullos officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Alfred was born on October 13, 1923 in Sunset, Texas to Alfred W. and Lou Emma (Taylor) Berg. He married Yvonne Haynes in January, 1942, in Oklhoma. Alfred retired from A & P Food Store as a store manager, served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the Normandale Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Wendell Berg of Decatur; two grandsons, Joseph Atkins of Fort Worth, Marc Young of Florida; granddaughter, Yvette Johnston and husband, Ricky of Fort Worth; numerous great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Alfred is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years and his daughter Donna Harbour.
