Suzy Garrett was born in Bridgeport, Tx to L. W. "Red" and Nannie "Granny Gert" Morton Garrett. She married her high school sweetheart Sam Cheves on December 13, 1954 in Bridgeport. She was a member of the Cates Street Church of Christ, Bridgeport Country Club Ladies Golf Assc., Daughters of Masons, and a 1953 Graduate of Bridgeport High School. She was preceded by 6 brothers: Tommy, Jimmy, Paul, Billy Jack, Clarence, and Carlton Garrett.
Survivors: husband of 52 years: J.V. "Sam" Cheves of Bridgeport; sons: Mike Cheves of Grand Prairie, Scott Cheves and wife Melody of Bridgeport, honorary son: Kevin Ailara of Grand Prairie, 2 granddaughters: Lauren and Kelsey Cheves, 2 sisters: Lavina Coleman of Bridgeport and Peggy Shepherd and husband Billy Joe of Boonsville, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
