Tucson: Alsa Jean "Lucy" Auvenshine, 82, formerly of Decatur, went to be with our Lord, Friday, December 24, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30th at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, and brother, Bobby Wayne Cox.
Jean was born December 17, 1928 in Chico, Texas to Herbert Lausin and Hattie (Blocker) Cox. She married Harold Ambrose Auvenshine on June 16, 1947 in Decatur, Texas. Jean retired from the former First National Bank of Decatur as a bookkeeper after 20 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur and was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy D. Nixon of Tucson, Arizona; granddaughter, Lori Merkel of Bastrop, Texas; two step granddaughters, Pam Miller of Canyon, Beverly Lewis of Amarillo; one great grandson; eight step great grandchildren and two nieces.
