Alvin Baker Jr.

Decatur ~ Alvin Baker Jr., 77, went to be with our Lord Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Decatur Church of Christ with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Rick Ross and Ron Sanders will officiate. Pallbearers include Bobby Daniels, Steve Pittman, Terry Harper, Sam Mandell, Gary Don Mosley, Dusty Baker, and Quirt Baker.

Alvin was born on January 20, 1941 to Alvin and Evelyn (Whittington) Baker in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage to Patricia Pope on May 26, 1962 in Decatur. Alvin was on the 1958 Boyd Regional Championship football team. He started to work for the Continental State Bank in Boyd in the summer of his eighth grade year. He worked full time after graduation of Boyd High School. Alvin left the bank in 1973 to work full time on his family ranch. Alvin was a rancher until his passing. He was a long time member of the Decatur Church of Christ. Alvin loved God, family, friends, horses, cows, rain and grass.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Patricia Baker of Decatur; his son, Alvin Baker III and wife Kellye of Decatur; his grandsons, Dusty Baker and wife Janda of Newark, Quirt Baker of Decatur; his sister, Billie Beverly of Irving; nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
