BOYD -- Anna Belle "Granny" Whittington, 102, a Homemaker, parted this earthly life to receive her well deserved reward in heaven on Friday, May 18, 2007 in Decatur.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Officiater: Bro. Steve Weeks Pallbearers will be: Mark Gillespie, Mike Crownover, Jamie Pegues, Jeffrey Rasbury, Terry Spradlin, and Chris Spradlin. Honorary pallbearers will be: Joey Dennis, Don Patterson, Ed Whittington, and Kenny Rasbury.
Anna Belle was born on November 27. 1904 to Tom and Ora Belle Spencer. She married Claude Whittington on December 26, 1923. She was a lifelong member of the Rhome Church of Christ. "Granny" tirelessly and selflessly lived to serve others, always putting herself last. She was a devoted Christian woman and could be heard singing hymns in her beautiful alto voice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Whittington; her daughters, Wanda Wise Oxford, Claudia Whittington, and Martha Spradlin; her granddaughter, Tammy Gillespie; and her brothers, Carl and Norris Spencer.
Survivors: son, Stewart Whittington and wife Dorothy; daughter, Juanelle Gillespie; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
