Decatur: Aszelene Souther, 84, a seamstress, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Decatur.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, April 11th at the Coker-Hawkins Chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Matthew Gage and Sonny Smith will officiate. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Larry Gage, Danny Souther, Mike Garrett, Tommy Souther, Tom Goode, Kenneth Wood, Wes Small and Wayne Berg.

Aszelene was born December 13, 1923 to George and Mary Francis Hall in Grayson County. She married to C. D. Souther on May 25, 1941, in Pottsboro, Texas and were married for 59 years until his death on September 18, 2000. Aszelene was a retired seamstress, a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur, and a member of the Decatur Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking for her family.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Clara Garrett and husband, Johnny of Decatur, Patricia Gage and husband, Jimmy of Decatur; son, David Souther and Joyce Bennett of Forestburg, sisters Mary Wood of Whitesboro, Geneva Hill Foster of Breckenridge; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

Aszelene is preceded in death by her husband, 3 sisters, 1 brother, great grandson, Wil Goode.
