Audrey Lewis Gilbert of Runaway Bay, Texas passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020.
A Private family service was held to honor Audrey.
Audrey was born on September 11, 1928 in Belize while her parents were visiting family. She returned to Shreveport LA where she grew up and attended Fair Park High School.
Audrey married W.E. "Cotton" Gilbert and enjoyed life raising a family while living in Shreveport and later moving to Jackson MS, Lafayette LA and then retiring in Runaway Bay TX. Over the years, she worked as an administrative assistant in the oilfield service industry and with Johnson and Johnson. Audrey was blessed to have celebrated 62 years of marriage with Cotton.
Audrey was an avid golfer and Bridge player for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was the "glue" that held her family together. “Memaw” was adored and cherished by her grandchildren, each of whom had a special relationship with her.
Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband Cotton, her sisters Beatrice Klayman and Rosemary Greening, and her grandson Jason.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her four children, son Michael Gilbert from Houston, daughters Jeannene O'Quinn and husband Jan Greenhalgh from Houston, Cindy Bullion and husband Jack from Conroe, and Liz Dale and husband Gene from McKinney; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Deborah, Kathryn, Colette, Anthony, Lewis, Keegan, and Nick; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Marvin Lewis and wife Jeannie from Emory TX and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey/Memaw will be remembered for her love of family, quick wit and fun-loving attitude. The family would like to thank the staff at the Residences at Bridgeport Medical Lodge and Solaris Hospice for their attention and wonderful care.
