PARADISE -- Audrey H. "A.W." Whitehead, 74, a retired telephone technician for Sprint, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 in Paradise. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial: Thomas Cemetery. Mr. Whitehead was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. He married Sandra Joan Powers May 1, 1976 in Vineland, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry H. and Perrie Spivey Whitehead and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors: Wife of 30 years, Sandra Whitehead of Paradise; daughters, Cindy Cantrell and husband Robert of Lillian, AL, Sharon James and husband Donald of Fulton, AL and Cristal Broussard and husband Ruben of Paradise; sons, Robert Whitehead of Lillian, AL, James Thompson and wife Judy of Thomasville, AL and Calvin Thompson and wife Kerri of Paradise; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Bost; brother, William Whitehead; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
