Runaway Bay ~ Barbara Ann Baker, 69, a retired public school teacher, went to be with our Lord Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Fort Worth.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Perrin Memorial Gardens in Perrin. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. Ken May will officiate. Pallbearers include Jerry Bethurum, Frank Maxwell, A.C. Griffin, Harold Mosley, Vic Morton, and Wayne Alexander. Honorary pallbearers include the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Barbara was born on October 3, 1943 to Ward and Ruby (Shipley) Luna in Jacksboro, Texas. She graduated from Graham High School in 1962 and from the University of North Texas in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Barbara was united in marriage to Dale Baker on June 22, 1963 in Denton, Texas. She taught elementary age students at HEB ISD, Graham ISD, Jacksboro ISD, and Bridgeport ISD where she retired in 1998. Barbara's hobbies included reading, scrapbooking, camping, artistic activities and teaching, but being with family and friends was still her greatest joy and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Winnie Luna.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Dale Baker of Runaway Bay; her son, Brannan Kyle Baker and wife Connie of Colorado City, Texas; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Sikes of Colorado City, Texas; her great grand children, Joe and Zoey; her sisters, Jolene Smith, Wilma York and husband Jerry, both of Temple, Texas; her brothers, Wilburn Luna and wife Audrey of Vernal, Utah; and Dwain Luna of Garland; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Barbara will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
