DECATUR--- Barbara Gail Brooks, 64, a retired licensed vocational nurse, went to be with our Lord Friday, January 7, 2011 in Decatur.
Funeral: 2 PM Tuesday at the Decatur Church of Christ with burial in Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Bro. Rick Ross and Bro. Jim Taylor to officiate. Pallbearers: Cory Brooks-Rendon, Keven Herndon, Shawn Herndon, Austin Hicks, Wade Gomillion, Wayne Weatherford, Randy Weatherford and Keith Bullard. Honorary Pallbearers: Ken Weatherford, Bob Bullard, Howard Gomillion and Tiney Mitchell.
Barbara was born to William and Clemma (Chesher) Mitchell in Bowie, Texas. She married J.M. Brooks on May 28, 1976 in Montague. Barbara was a member of the Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Robert, Billy and Weldon Mitchell; her sisters, Evelyn Weatherford, and Mertie Ellen Terry.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, J.M. Brooks of Decatur; her daughter, Deneise Walker and husband Clay of Bridgeport; her step children, Ray and Julie Brooks; her grandchildren, Cory Brooks-Rendon, Maegan and Kaetlyn Flavin; her God-grandchild, Ashley Luther and fiance Matt Bush; her brother, Tiney Mitchell and wife Evelyne of Port Isabell; her sisters, Mildred Bullard and husband Bob of Livingston, Ann Gomillion and husband Howard of Graham, Kay Dennis of St. Jo; brother-in-law, Ken Weatherford of Midland; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
