Paradise ~ Barbara Ann Dougherty, 78, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Paradise.
Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery #1. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Stan Cox will officiate.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1940 in Pilot Point and was adopted by her parents, Curtis David and Estle Lou (Bettis) Locke. She was united in marriage to James Paul Dougherty on October 31, 1959 in Fort Worth. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. Barbara was a member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid painter, painting scenes that looked as though they had come right out of an old western movie. In her earlier years, she began painting landscapes and grew to love painting southwestern themed scenery. Barbara also practiced the art of calligraphy. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as often as she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Curtis Jan Locke.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Todd Dougherty of Fort Worth and Christopher Thad Dougherty and wife Anetta of Webster, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Silas Christopher and Luke Jensen Dougherty; and a host of friends.
