Barbara Faye Smedley

Barbara Faye Smedley, 79, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Decatur.

Due to weather conditions Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Rising Star, Texas.

Pastor Terry Simmons and Rev. Fred Raney will officiate.

Barbara was born August 31, 1941 to John Wesley and Lovey (Jarrell) Bishop in Refugio, Texas. She got her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1963  and retired as a teacher whose career spanned many years. Barbara was joined in marriage to R.L. Smedley May 31, 1963. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, R.L. Smedley on December 7, 2013; her son, Tracy Smedley; and her brother, Jarrell Bishop.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stacey Taylor and husband Ricky of Chico; her grandchildren, Rhett, Randi, and Raider; her sisters, Lovie Nichols of Cross Plains, Dorothy Ivey of Rising Star, and Ginger Botts of Hawley; her brothers, Gene Bishop of Abilene and Curtis Bishop of Eagle Pass; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
