Barbara was born on March 18, 1952 to Frank Knox and Marjorie Alene (Aaron) Mitchell in Rotan, Texas. She was united in marriage to Lee Walker Swan on July 26, 1975 in Rotan. Barbara worked at United Airlines as a flight attendant. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Walker Swan; and her stepson, Chuckie Johnson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sister, Sharon Holston of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
