Paradise ~ Bennie Carroll Dickinson, 81, went to be with our Lord Friday, June 3, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Reverend Steven Azzara to officiate. Pallbearers are Dickie Dunn, Mark Dunn, Russell Chapman, Ricky Chapman, Carl White and Truman Read.
Bennie was born on February 27, 1935 to Vaughn and Lola (Hill) Dickinson in Chico, Texas. He was united in marriage to Nancy Cowley on May 14, 1999 in Chico. Bennie retired from the natural gas pipeline industry. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paradise. He was a long time Sunday school superintendent and a member of Methodist Men’s Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bobbie Dean Dickinson; his son, David Harold Dickinson; his daughter, Vonda Everhart; his sister, Peggy White; and his step daughter, Louise Cowley.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 17 years, Nancy Dickinson of Chico; his son, Joel Dickinson and wife Kimberly of North Richland Hills; his stepson, Ed Cowley and wife Debbie of Chico; his step daughter, Tammy Sosa and husband Darren of Chico; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Anita Chapman of North Richland Hills; his son in law, Steve Everhart of Paradise; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
The family requests memorials to be made to American Cancer Society.
