Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with Reverend Johnny Irish and Reverend Roy Spore officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Buddy Black, Ron Silvers, Eddie Sampler, Foster Walker, Larry Hicks, Dennis Cobb, Brent Williams, and Gary Scroggins. Honorary Pallbearers are Bud Enis, J. E. Carson, Kenneth McKay, Allen Ray Young, Ray Nellis.
Bud was born September 8, 1921 in Higgins, Texas to Ferdinand and Karolina (Betke) Forbau. He married Ida Margaret "Teeny" Cartwright on May 24, 1968 in Dallas, Texas. Bud served in the United States Air Force in World War II where he received the EAME Campaign Medal with six bronze stars. Bud graduated from West Texas State College and majored in speech and history. Bud taught 35 years in Dumas, Canadian, Sterling, Colorado, Chillicothe, Northwest at Rhome and Decatur High School and of those years, he was principal for 22 years. Bud's highest honor was in 1989 when the Decatur High School Annual was dedicated to him. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Decatur.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Teeny Forbau of Decatur; daughter, Judy Ratzlaff and husband, Roger, of Willow Park; four grandchildren, Jerl McKinney and wife, Cathy, James McKinney and wife, Candi, Jana Porter and husband, Michael, and Mark Ratzlaff; great grandchildren, Catherine Larson and husband, Jed, Jessica, James and Kelly McKinney, Evan and Lauren Porter.
Bud is preceded in death by son, James Howard Cartwright.
