Alvord: Bernice Stewart Julius Pruitt, 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully February 29, 2008 in Bridgeport, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. March 4, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Decatur Chapter #942 of the Eastern Star officiating. Internment will be at the Pruitt Family Cemetery north of Alvord.

Pruitt was born on July 22, 1928 to Jasper Jackson and Agnes Ora (Green) Stewart in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School Class of 1945. Through a basketball scholarship, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University. Pruitt retired from Lockheed (General Dynamics) after 29 years as a buyer.

She and her husband, Milburn E.(Bob) Pruitt of 42 years lived in Azle, Texas for 20 years before retiring and moving north of Alvord. Together they enjoyed dancing, hunting, golf and spending time with friends and family. She was an avid cook and Past Worthy Matron of the Decatur Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband Milburn E. (Bob) Pruitt of Alvord; daughter, Bonnie Bernice Julius Hamilton and husband, David G. of Alvord; granddaughter, Christie Hall of Alvord; grandson, Roger Hawkins and wife Tara of Frisco; great grandchildren, Michaela Lynn Hall and Reese Ethan Hawkins; great granddaughter, Jaylin Rae Hall. Step-children include Janice Pollock and husband, John; Paul Pruitt and wife Lisa; Betty Sue Jackson and husband, Steve; Greg Pruitt all of Arlington and 10 step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by first husband, Clarence Truman Julius; granddaughter, Samantha Rae Holder and step-son, Robert Eugene Pruitt.
