Decatur: Betty Evelyn Calhoun, 91, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10th at Greenwood Baptist Church with Reverends Tracy Epting and Ken May officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Raymond Hamm, Danny Pruett, Roger Weber, Tim Fletcher, Preston Pruett, Clint Sullivan, Hector Villa and Mike Lane.
Betty was born March 5, 1922 in Terrell, Texas to John Arter and Flora Wells (West) Bryant. She was united in marriage to Weldon Benjiman "Ben" Calhoun on November 22, 1950 in Valley View, Texas and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2010. Betty was also preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Stevens on February 3, 2013; brother, Douglas Bryant; and sister, Laura Bryant.
Betty was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, Greenwood Extension Education Club and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, James Calhoun and friend Debra Lester of Krum; two granddaughters, Kristi Stevens of Frisco and Courtney Stevens of Decatur; son-in-law, Charles Stevens of Decatur; sister, Dorothy Hughes of Fort Worth; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
