Bridgeport: Betty Jo Barker Newton, 82, a nurse, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Dallas.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Reverend Larry Potts will officiate. Pallbearers are Cliff Rocha, Chad Newton, Adam Gressman, Ryan Gressman, Chris Needham and Chad Howell.
Betty was born on August 23, 1928 to James and Sarah (Hudson) Barker in Mangum, Oklahoma. She was a nurse at the Bridgeport Hospital and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick Newton; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cheryl Newton of Bridgeport; son, Tony Newton and wife Pam of Wichita Falls; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Rocha and husband Cliff, Chad Newton and wife Jennifer, Mathew McAfee and Lauren McAfee; 2 great grandchildren, Adison and Gavin; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
