Betty (Chester) Peyton

Bridgeport~ Betty Chester Peyton, 82, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Decatur.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Betty was born December 29, 1937 to Virgil Lee and Lottie Marie (Rawle) Chester in Elliott, Texas. She was united in marriage to Billy George Peyton on May 17, 1957 in Pickton, Texas. They were married 49 years until his passing in 2006. Betty was a homemaker who cherished her time raising her children and spending time with family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Paradise United Methodist Church. Betty was also a member of Wise County Tin & Iron Antique Cars Club and the Decatur 8-ers square dance club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy George Peyton; her sister, Connie Odessa; and her son-in-law, Billy Lindsey.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Lindsey of Denton, her sons, John Peyton of Dallas, Brad Peyton and wife Debi of Chico, and Richard Peyton and wife Janice of Winnfield, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Berth Opella of Wichita Falls, and Ana Jo Breedlove of Thornberry; and her brother, Virgil Lynn Chester of Wimberly.
