Bridgeport ~ Betty Jean Smock, 87, a retired packing house worker, went to be with our Lord Friday, February 12, 2016 in Decatur.
Memorial service is 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Betty was born on December 25, 1928 to Eugene and Bernadine (Horrell) Gobble in Madison, Illinois. She worked for Excel Meat Packing until retiring.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Billie Gene Smock, Robert Smock, and Patricia Postal; her brother, Kingsley Gobble; and her sister, Juanita Seacrest.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne Smock of Prescott, Arizona, Ronald Lee Smock of El Paso, Donald Smock of Odessa, Dennis J. Smock of Bridgeport; her daughters, Pamela Jean Nichel of Nebraska, and Tamarah Salcido of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; her brother, Jay Gobble of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
