Bridgeport: Betty Johanna Stephens, 58, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Monday, September 6, 2010 in Ft. Worth.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with burial at Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The Reverend Gary Dimmitt to officiate. Pallbearers: Matt Stephens, Stephen Harbin, James Boski, Russell Stephens, Will Cowling and Clayton Green.

Betty was born March 12, 1952 to Houston Bruce and Dolly Mae (Johnson) Bruce Hestand in Rayville, Louisiana. She married Kermit L. Stephens on June 2, 1974 in Jacksboro, Texas. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Houston Bruce and her brother, Arnold Wayne Bruce.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 36 years, Kermit Stephens of Bridgeport; daughters, Heather Harbin and husband Stephen of Grapevine and Melissa A. Boski and husband James S. of San Antonio; 5 step-children, Thad K. Stephens and wife Jackie of Camden, South Carolina, Kay Roberts of Cassatt, South Carolina, Russell L. Stephens and wife Cindy of Alvord, Lisa L. Bowers and husband Tommy of Kershaw, South Carolina and Christopher B. Stephens and wife Allison of Kershaw, South Carolina; mother, Dolly Mae Bruce Hestand of Rayville, Louisiana; brother, John Wesley Hestand of South Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 886 CR 1326, Bridgeport, TX 76426.
