BOYD -- Betty Jean Thornton, 78, retired owner-operator of Betty's Cut 'N Curl in Boyd, went to be with our Lord Friday, June 4, 2010, in Azle.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Burial to follow in Boyd Cemetery. The family to receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Betty was born October 9, 1931 to Alfred and Lillian (Thompson) Bobo in Springtown, Texas. She married Joseph Thornton April 11, 1947 in Weatherford. He preceded her in death along with her brother, Adron Bobo. Betty was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd and the Lake Worth Senior Citizens group.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Jo Sherrill and husband, Dennis of Springtown; sons, Joseph Thornton Jr. of Euless, Bobby Thornton and wife Kathy of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Brucille Mauldin and Earline Haynes, both of Springtown; numerous nieces and nephews, other relative and a host of friends.
