Newark ~ Bill Coffer, 86, a retired truck driver went to be with our Lord Saturday, February 18, 2012 in Newark.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Boyd with burial in Aurora Cemetery. Pastor Lewis Coomer will officiate. Pallbearers are Brent Young, Don Tyson, Harold Young, Jackie Blackburn, Cory Stigall, Jeremy Watson and Josh Watson.
Bill was born on April 5, 1925 to Morrison Lee and Pearl (Blazes) Coffer in Gatesville, Texas. He married Mary Lee Pendley on April 24, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the House of Prayer Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Mary Lee Coffer of Newark; his son, David Coffer and wife Ronda of Nemo; his daughters, Connie Young and husband Harold of Lubbock and Jemmie Blackburn and husband Jackie of Hamilton; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Duff of Lubbock; other family members and a host of friends.

I GREW UP IN NEWARK AND KNEW MR. COFFER MOST OF MY LIFE, AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER MET A MORE KIND AND GENTLE PERSON. THIS WORLD WOULD CERTAINLY BE ALOT BETTER OFF IF WE HAD MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM.
