Boyd ~ Bill Simpson, 79, a retired scraper operator went to be with our Lord Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Boyd.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Boyd with burial in Boyd Cemetery.

Rev. T.B. Reid and Rev. Jimmy Arrington will officiate. Pallbearers include Harold Lisby, Andy Chapman, Edward Goldman, Tommy Smith, Shane Smith, Mike Richardson, Doug Williams, and Tim Cameron. Honorary pallbearer is Buddy Hunt.

Bill was born on March 12, 1933 to Charlie and Minnie (Roberts) Simpson in Decatur. He was united in marriage to Alice Smith on May 7, 1954 in Boyd. Bill retired after working 43 years as a scraper operator at Acme Brick. He was a member of the Boyd Volunteer Fire Department. Bill attended Boyd Assembly of God Church, Hilltop Assembly of God Church, and Family Worship Center Assembly of God Church.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harry Lee and Gordan Jack Simpson; and his sister, Stella Mae Waldrop.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Alice Pearl Smith Simpson of Boyd; his daughter, Patricia Burdine and husband David of Fort Worth; his son, Jerry Simpson and wife Jennie of Grapevine; his grandchildren, Justin Simpson, Lonnie Hambrick, Jardin Simpson, John Hambrick, and Angel Burdine; his sister, Clayton Simpson of Bridgeport; and his former son-in-law, David Hambrick; other family members and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Boyd Fire Department (940-433-5755) and the Wise Area Relief Mission in Decatur (940-626-4676).
