Decatur - Billy Alvin Askey, 82, a retired store keeper for T.U. Electric, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in his hometown of Decatur.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Reverend Ken May officiating.   Interment:  Oaklawn Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Paul Askey, Blake Tucker, Jeff Bakker, Jason Holmes, Darrel Romine, and Jim Bob Little.

Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Cunnius, Ross Mueller, Glenn Rhine, Tommy Cunnius, Dan Rhine, W.M. Lewis, and the Adult 6 Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.

Bill was born October 12, 1931 to William Alvin and Mildred (Davenport) Askey in Decatur, Texas.  He married Joyce Elaine Phillips on April 1, 1960 in Decatur. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur for over 60 years.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Joyce Askey of Decatur; daughter, Phyllis Jordan and husband Gary of Rainbow, Texas; son, Phillip Askey and wife Rebecca of Sanger; 3 grandchildren, Krista Askey of Dallas, Austin Jordan of San Antonio, and Kayla Askey of Sanger; brother, Bob Askey and wife Nelda of Dalhart; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jonnie Greer.
