Rhome – Service for Billy Joe Crites Sr are scheduled for 2PM Friday for graveside services. Visitation will be at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd 11-1 Friday. Burial at Aurora Cemetery.
Bro. Jimmy Whithers will be presiding.
He went home to be with our Lord on Saturday January 14, 2023. Billy was born March 29, 1930 in Aurora, Texas, in Wise County to Joe and Ruby (Slimp) Crites. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Military honors will be provided by Wise County Veterans group. He retired as a manager of Railway Express Agency in 1973. After retirement he was a home remodeler for 30 years. Billy was a Master Mason for over 60 years and a member of the masonic Lodge in Troup Texas. He prided himself in being from the old school and that he believed you should always work hard and do what is right. His hobby was working in his work shop. Billy was a member of Troup Baptist Church as well as Aurora Baptist Church. He was a beloved brother, husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many who will miss him dearly.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 9 years Dollie Crites; and brother in law Wesley Pickle.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters; Cecilee Richards and husband Danny of Corsicana, Suzanne Hencke and husband Larry of Aurora; son Billy Joe Crites, Jr (Rocky) of Aurora; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister in law Pat Pickle of Poteau, Ok; numerous family and friends.
