Chico ~ Billy John Knox, 83, a retired mechanic, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, September 12, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs, Texas with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Rev. Willie Jo Haak and Rev. Mark Autry will officiate. Pallbearers include Keith Patterson, Richard Cooke, Steve Cleveland, Wayne Berg, Paul Arrington and Willie Haak.
Billy was born on November 14, 1930 to Everette and Maggie (Hayes) Knox in Bomarton, Texas. He was united in marriage to Gay Welch on February 4, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico. Billy accepted Christ in his life at an early age. He and his wife raised their family to love the Lord and do his work. Billy provided well for his family as a cross country truck driver. He then moved his family to Wise County in 1963 and begin hauling rock and later hauling feed for Saginaw Flakes. Billy is a member of Victory Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years; his sisters, Elizabeth and Martha; his brothers, R.B., Glenn and Bunk.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Mark Knox and wife Jean of Chico; Michael Knox of South Carolina; his daughter, Mononette Wells and husband Danny of Chico; his grandsons, James and wife Amanda, Mark and Chad; his granddaughters, Lisa, Stacy, Rachel, Brittany and Cheyenne; his great-great-granddaughters, Makenzie, Addison and Brooklyn; his sister-in-laws, Pat Chapman, Maida Lee Weaver and Clara Knox; several nieces and nephews.
