BRIDGEPORT -- Billy D. Long, 70, a retired body repairman went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial: Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Gary Dimmitt will officiate. Pallbearers: Lavert Beard and Rodney Dunn. Honorary pallbearers: Bobby Brazier, David Smith, Bill Munn, Dub Little, and Bud Buck.
Bill was born on January 6, 1939, the son of Hayes Alton and Myrtle (White) Long, in Jack County, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Bill was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and a former Chaplain of VFW Post 10700.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Christopher; brother, Harold D. Long; and niece, Theresa Hobbs.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving companion, Pat Deaton of Bridgeport; daughters, Lynda Oller of Mansfield, Ann Grooms and husband Perry of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Jeremy, Allyson, Tyler and wife Hillary, Marissa, and Kristen; great granddaughter, Natalie; numerous nieces and nephews.
