WHITE SETTLEMENT -- Billy G. Smith, 69, a retired machinist, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in White Settlement. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora. Burial: Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home. Billy was born Feb. 2, 1929, to Elgin and Mae Smith in Decatur. He married Dorothy Gallaway in March 1967 in Fort Worth. Billy worked for General Dynamics as a machinist and a Union representative for 21 years. In 2004, after 50 years as a machinist, he retired from Fore Machine Shop in Haltom City. He served as president of the National Association of Riding Clubs and Sheriff Posses for the years of 1985, 1986, 1988 and 1989. He was also on the board of White Settlement Civil Service. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: infant Joyce Smith, Bernice Smith Cagle and Imogene Smith Willbanks; 2 brothers: Charles and E.L. Smith. Survivors: Wife of 37 years, Dorothy L. Smith of White Settlement; son, Billy G. Smith Jr. and wife, Masaka of Prince George, Va.; daughters, Elaine Smith Conger of Bridgeport and Lori Smith of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Onavelle Smith Horn of New Mexico and Juanell Smith Lane of Louisiana; brothers, Jackie Smith and wife, Jennie of Boyd, Ronnie Smith and wife, Loveta of Boyd; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Jay Gallaway, Jeff Gallaway, Jimmy Gallaway, David Gallaway, Steve Lewis, Scott Lewis, and Brent Stone.
