Decatur ~ Billy Ray Wiley, 92, went to be with our Lord Monday, June 10, 2019, in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019, at Decatur Church of Christ with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Bro. Rick Ross will officiate. Pallbearers include Jeremy Rawlings, Stephen Rawlings, Chris Tobola, Jarrod Brogdon, Breven Tobola, Michael Adams, and Terry Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Maeyers, Joe Lambert, Benny Rutherford, Gene Blagg, Jack Ille, Don McDonald, Jimmy Cunnius, Steve Summers, Dale Anderson, Alford Talley, and Charlie Long.
Billy was born on December 7, 1926, to Marvin F. and Lela Mae (Stevens) Wiley in Audubon. He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Wooldridge on June 28, 1952, in Fort Worth. Billy grew up on a dairy north of town and with the exception of the time he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the World War II era, he lived all of his years in Decatur. He retired as Executive Vice President from 1st National Bank of Decatur after 35 years. Billy was a firefighter for 20 years at the volunteer fire department, was President of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Library and Cemetery Boards, also served 37 years on the Decatur Hospital Board and when he retired his position the imaging center building was named in his honor. Billy loved fishing and dearly loved his family, he enjoyed watching the family as it grew over the years. Some of his best memories are of the family vacations they all took together. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Wiley of Decatur; his daughters, Rhona Harris and husband Terry of Schertz, Texas, and Glenda Adams and husband Michael of Missouri City, Texas; his grandchildren, April Tobola, Jeremy Rawlings, Alissa Brogdon, and Stephen Rawlings; his 9 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, and a host of family and friends.
