Bobbie Jean Read

Paradise ~ Bobbie Jean Read, 84 years, went to be with our Lord Wednesday March 11, 2020 in Paradise.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at The First Baptist Church in Cottondale with burial in Paradise Cemetery. Family to receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Rev. Charles Pugh and Rev. Terry Terry will officiate. Pallbearers include Bud Read, Barry Read, Russell Read, Jacoby Read, Eric Harris, Lee Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Read and Chad Thompson.

Bobbie was born on June 27, 1935 to Virgil Walter and Pearl Maxine (McDaniel) Martin in Bridgeport, Texas. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Bill Read on May 9, 1953 at Lake Bridgeport.

Bobbie was a homemaker, a beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Cottondale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Debbie Read; her granddaughter Toni Ward; her brothers, R.V. (Sonny) Martin, and Billy Jack Martin; her sisters, Marie Cobb and Geneva Church.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Bill Read of Paradise, her sons, Bud Read and wife Shiela of Paradise, and Barry Read of Dallas; 3 grandchildren, Eric Harris of Paradise, Russell Read and wife Jennifer of Paradise, Trisha Thompson and husband Chad of Paradise; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Shirley McNiel of Ft Worth, and Reba McKeever of Paradise.
