Graveside service is 10 a.m. Friday, September 7th at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend Johnnny Irish officiating.
Pallbearers include David Boyd, Johnny Schumacher, Michael Schumacher, C.J. Schumacher, Johnathan Schumacher and Dr. Kelley Tibbels. Honorary pallbearers are the adult men's class at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. No set visitation.
Bobby was born on September 29, 1929 to Odie and Edith (Myers) Boyd in Decatur. He was united in marriage to Mary Helen Duncan on January 6, 1950 in Fort Worth. Bobby served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Decatur Golf Club, Runaway Bay Country Club, Masonic Lodge, JSR Alcohol & Drug Abuse, and the First United Methodist Church.
Bobby worked in the aerospace industry for 40 years. For 38 years, he worked for Convair/General Dynamics in Fort Worth on the B36, B58, F111, F16, and other miscellaneous development programs. While in Abilene he worked on the Atlas Missile Program. For 2 years, he worked for Hyler Aerospace Division with NASA in New Orleans on the Saturn Apollo first mission to the moon. Bobby retired as a manager of Manufacturing Engineering.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Vanderventer; his sister, JoAnne Grissom; and his brother, Bill Boyd.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Helen Boyd of Decatur; his son, David Boyd of Crowley; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his brother, Jack W. Boyd of Plano; his sister, Helen Ruth Paschall of Denton; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
