Bobby Jack Flanagan

December 2, 1952 — August 8, 2020

Runaway Bay ~ Bobby Jack Flanagan of Runaway Bay, Texas left this earth on August 8, 2020 at the age of 67. He was born December 2, 1952 to Jimmie Ann (Buford) and Jack Flanagan - the first of four children.

Memorial Service and interment will be 1:15 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.

Bobby was a graduate of the Class of 1970 from Allen High School in Allen, Texas. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Saint Leo University, Florida in 1979. Bobby was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the rank of Sergeant in 1980 after serving in Hawaii and Thailand. After over 30 years of service, Bobby retired from the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. That career brought long-lasting friendships and many may remember him as “Captain Flanagan.”

After retirement Bobby moved west of DFW where he hoped to pursue his greatest loves - golf, fishing, and hunting. A true Texan, Bobby believed all good things live and die in Texas! Greater than all else though, Bobby loved his daughter and granddaughter who were his biggest source of pride as well as many beloved friends and family members.

Bobby is survived by daughter and granddaughter, Wendy and Lennon Combs of Portland, OR; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tommy Ereckson of Van Alstyne, TX; step-mother, Patsy Lewis of Branch, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who have great love for him. He is preceded in death by mother, Jimmie Ann Williamson; father, Jack Flanagan; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Dennis Maloy; brother, Donnie Flanagan; nephew, Thomas Ereckson; and niece, Michelle Maloy.
