Bobby Wayne King

Keller ~ Bobby Wayne King, 76, went to be with our Lord, Friday, June 25, 2021 in Dallas, Texas.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Pleasant Grove #3. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Terry Bryan will officiate. Pallbearers include Jonathan Ryle, Neil Waggoner, Dennis Cobb, Shaun Barnett, Jack Diltz, Larry McMinn, Henry Anderson, and Ted Sellers.

Bobby was born June 27, 1944 to William Martin “Red” and Emma Lucy (Choate) King in Alvord, Texas. He was united in marriage June 3, 1967 to Janell Lumsden in Alvord, Texas. Bobby graduated Alvord High School and went on to graduate with a Masters from North Texas State University. He was an educator all of his life, having been a coach, a teacher, and a H.S. Principal. Bobby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

Bobby was a public educator for 56 years. Anyone who knew Mr. King understands his love and passion of educating high school students. He exhibited his passion of coaching fundamentals of all sports and mathematics for all levels of students. He believed in building relationships with every person he came in contact.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Red” and Emma Lucy King; brothers, W.C. King, James King, Charles King, and Mickey King; sisters, Earlene Wilson, and Mary Margaret King.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Janell King of Keller; his son, Robert King and wife Angela of Westfield, Indiana; his daughter, Robyn Gibson and husband Scott of Paradise; grandchildren, Brianna and Teague McWard, Asher and Caleb King, Kaitlyn and William Pettit, and Blaine and Bryson Gibson; his brothers, Beau King and Richard King; his sisters, Betty Ball, Judy Walters, Barbara Pierce, Susan Rains, and Cheryl Matthews; extended family members and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations made to the Bobby King Scholarship Memorial Fund at Community Bank 507 US Hwy 380 Bridgeport, Texas 76426.  940-683-4191
