Bobby O'Dell

Bridgeport~ Bobby O’Dell, 80, went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 23, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial in Thomas Cemetery to follow. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hawkins Funeral Home.

Rev. Larry Potts and Rev. Tom Merritt to Officiate. Pallbearers are to include Mike Bledsoe, Johnny Barnett, Chet Selz, Klent Selz, Keith McComis, Jack Watson, and Ronny Holt. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Brazier, Eugene Canova, and Russell Rawle.

Bobby was born on May 29, 1941 to K.H. (Bush) and Edith (Anderson) O’Dell in Chico, Texas. He was united in marriage to Linda (O’Kelley) O’Dell on June 2, 1961 at The Lone Star Baptist Church in Chico, Texas. Bobby worked for Cooper Energy and as a Supervisor for City Services many years in the oilfield before his retirement. Bobby’s favorite hobby was woodworking, and he enjoyed each project he pursued. He loved his coffee time and his conversation with his friends, and he always cherished the time spent with his family.  Bobby was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Bridgeport where he served as past Trustee and Treasurer various times throughout the years and he was a past Bridgeport Booster Club President.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Vernon O’Dell, Virginia Laird, Ruthie Fellers, Faye Gutherie, June O’Dell, and Bill O’Dell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Linda O’Dell of Bridgeport; his daughter, Debbie O'Dell Selz and husband Scott of Lake Bridgeport; his son, Robert O’Dell and wife Renee­ of Azle; his 6 grandchildren, Chet Selz, Klent Selz, Karli Selz, Chelci O’Dell, Blake O’Dell, and Heidi O’Dell; his sister, Margaret Wilson and husband Tom; numerous extended family members and a host of good friends.
