Brenda C. (Stubbs) Jewell

Brenda Jewell, 75, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in Fort Worth.

Brenda was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, January 20, 1948, to Claude and Una Mae Stubbs. She met David, the love of her life, in 1966, they married in 1967, moving to Texas a month later. She and David spent time in Fort Worth before moving to the farm in Rhome in 1981.  Always a busy body and hard worker, she spent a number of years at the American Paint Horse Association, Wise County Messenger, and NRS. Though she retired from NRS in April, she cherished working with people and helping others, and aspired to again be ‘Santa’s Elf’ during the Christmas season, assisting not only Santa, but families, kids, and pets alike. Brenda loved her family, her dogs, people, and farm animals--never met a stranger, would help anyone in need, and would visit with every animal (especially dogs) she met.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, David, and is survived by her daughters, Stacey Gilbert and husband, James of Rhome, TX and Mandy Plante and husband, Everett of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Bailee, Nathan, and Victoria; great grand babies Ryan and Amelia; her beloved dogs Buster, Sarah, Dixie, and Levi; and countless friends and acquaintances made and cherished through the years.

Thank you to all of Brenda’s friends and acquaintances, near and far, who made her smile or whom she made smile. You made her world.

Visitation will be held at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Boyd on Friday, September 8th, from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9th at 10:00 am at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with burial following at Aurora Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Mitchell, Walter Ransom, Beau Dunn, Trae Hamm, Bill Childress, and Dale Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Loggains, Johnny Williams, Mike Tackett, and Weldon Ellis. Matt Pritchett will officiate.
