Byrl "Butch" Dee Proctor

Boyd ~ Byrl Dee “Butch” Proctor, 82, a retired military sergeant, went to be with our Lord Monday, February 10, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 1:30 p.m. in DFW National Cemetery , Dallas , Texas . Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bro. Steve Weeks will officiate. Pallbearers include Mike Morse, Jim Morse, Darin Morse, Jared Presler, Kenny Grant and Kevin Hittle.

Butch was born on August 21, 1931 to B.H. and Carrie (Nesse) Proctor in Fristoe , Missouri . He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Abbie Evelyn Butler on June 4, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Butch was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and fought for our country in Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in the service, Butch and Evelyn lived in many places around the world and after his retirement from the Air Force they settled and made their home in Boyd. They loved to travel and would camp out along the way in the many states they visited. Butch never met a stranger and had a friendly smile and hand shake to those he met.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his stepson, Jerry Don Morse; his step grandson, Jason Bliss; and his step great grandson, Nathan Wallace.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his stepchildren, Elvin Morse and wife Sharon of Washington, Gordon Morse and wife Myrna of Florida, Carolyn Bliss and husband Jerry of Arizona; 9 step grandchildren; 21 step great grandchildren; his brother, Bill Proctor and wife Shirley of Nevada; his special friends, Murtie Bounds, Kenny Grant and Ruby Estes; other family members and a host of friends.
