Catherine Elaine (Overall) Richards

Decatur ~ Catherine Elaine Richards, 86, went to be with our Lord Monday, January 11, 2021.

Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Cassie Wade will officiate. Pallbearers will include Kliff Black, Pat McCurdy, Wayne Trachta, Yates McCurdy, Cole McCurdy, and Nicholas Trachta.

Catherine was born September 22, 1934 to Ernest Cundiff and Catherine (Robertson) Overall in Gonzales, Texas. She was united in marriage June 7, 1952 to James Cornelius Richards Sr. in Roundrock, Texas. Catherine was an active volunteer in her church with the Clown Ministry in Decatur, and The Crossroads Ministry in Dallas. She was also a fulltime volunteer at the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Dallas and the Decatur Community Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James C. “Jimmy” Richards Jr.; and her brother, John E. Overall.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years James C. Richards Sr.; her daughters, Molly Black and husband Kliff of Granbury, Beth McCurdy and husband Pat of Decatur, and Gay Trachta and husband Wayne of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Collins, Stephanie Strange, Yates McCurdy, Lauren Prestifilippo, Cole McCurdy, Reagan Trachta, Kendall Trachta, Nicholas Trachta, and Cameron Trachta; 5 great-grandchildren, Zane & Emma Collins, Stokes McCurdy, Leo Prestifilippo, and Andie McCurdy.
