Catherine "Cathy" Mellory Smith

Catherine Mellory Smith, 68, passed away on October 12, 2024 in Paradise, Texas. Born on March 24, 1956, Cathy, as she was affectionately known, was a beacon of joy and strength to all who knew her.

Cathy’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. Her presence brightened any room, and her indomitable spirit made her the reliable pillar upon which many leaned on. Known for her humor and courage, she often joked that she could take on anyone if they crossed her family and claim no one dared to test.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure, having filled her years with memorable escapades and cherished stories. Cathy is survived by her loving partner, Ronald Lowe; her brother, Kenneth Hawkins and his wife Claudette; her sisters, Beverly Siebert and husband David and Crystal Hutchison and her husband Zonn. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Beverly and Harold Hawkins; her brothers Harold and Wayne Hawkins, and her sisters Gail Barber and Dianna Hawkins.

Cathy’s hobbies included crocheting and making jelly candles. She relished her time at the beach and was an avid fisher, embracing the tranquility and thrill it offered. Above all, spending time with her family and friends was her favorite pastime, one that brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

Cathy’s life was a testament to the power of positivity and the importance of family, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered not just for the life she led but for the love she shared and the strength she showed.
