Decatur ~ Cecil Edward Ward, 85, a retired crew chief mechanic, went to be with our Lord Monday, April 15, 2019, in Justin.
Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to graveside at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Rev. Gerre Joiner will officiate.
Cecil was born on March 28, 1934, to Ernest Edward and Alberta Virginia (Kingery) Ward in Chapmanville, West Virginia. He was united in marriage to Florence Lucetta Butcher on November 12, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio. Cecil retired from American Airlines after 33 years. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his grandson, Shawn Ward.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Mark Allan Ward and wife Karen of Oakpoint, and Michael Arden Ward and wife Stacy of Roanoke; his daughter, Melinda Anne Burkhart and husband Randy of Decatur; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Cory Cox, Brandon Ward, Andy and Jessi Ward, Cody and Jodi Burkhart, Erin Ward, Jansen and Maribel Ward, Mindy Burkhart, and Katye Shook; his 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
