Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Rev. C. D. Lockhart, Rev. Perry Rice, Jr., Rev. Kerry Evans, and Rev. Alfred Igehart to officiate. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Charles was born November 24, 1921 in Sour Lake, Texas to Charles Preston and Juno Augusta Bible. He married Esther Oliver on October 30, 1937 in Meridian, Texas. Charles served in the United State Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in July, 1946. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Treasurer of the Brazos River Presbyterian Church, an elder of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Clifton, Texas and a honorary member of St. John Baptist Church in Decatur.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Esther Oliver Bible of Decatur; four (4) daughters, Wilmer Bible McWilliams and husband, Alfred of Marietta, GA, Bonnie Bible of Arlington, Martha Bible of Decatur, Anna Juno Bilble of Houston; son, Johnathan S. Bible and wife Betty of Mexia; grandchildren; great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and host of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, sons, Charles Augusta Bible, Jr and Jonathan Bible, Sr.; brothers, James Haywood and Edward Haywood; and sister, Martha Bible.
