Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Charles Shepherd, Robert Shepherd, Charles Willis, Jerry Willis, Matthew Willis, David Goodwin, Eddie Goodwin and Ronald Parnell.
Chet was born August 1, 1920, in Baxter County, Arkansas to Bryan and Delphia (Heiskill) Haney. He served in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. Chet was united in marriage to Mildred F. Greenwood on January 7, 1946, in Alvord.
Chet retired from Binswanger Glass Company in Dallas after 30 years of service as a glass glazier. After his retirement, he worked 5 years as a business agent for the Glazier Local Union No. 1837. Chet was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dallas for over 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alvord.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Mildred Haney of Alvord; his daughter, Barbara "Corkey" Shepherd of Alvord; his brother, Ray Dean Haney of Grand Prairie; his sister, Nita Ray of Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Chet is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sue Haney; three brothers; and two sisters.
