Charles "Buddy" Albert Haynes Sr, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd, with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Pastor Jonathan McLeod will officiate, assisted by Pastor Eric Crawford.
Pallbearers include Lee Waldrop, Burl Wagner, Charles Albert Haynes III, Arron Moore, Ernie Pewitt, and George Hines.
Buddy was born on March 11, 1944, in Paradise, Texas to Troy and Mary (May) Haynes, where he grew up in Paradise on his family farm. He later moved to Boyd where he raised a family. Buddy was employed by Womack Trucking in Bridgeport, Texas for 40 years. From 1976 to 1978 he was police chief in Trophy Club, Texas, then he decided to follow his passion and return to driving a rock truck. Everyone knew him by his CB handle "Hot Rod".
His hobbies were gardening, cooking, traveling to the Rocky Mountains, spending time with his kids and grandkids. Buddy also had a lifelong passion for muscle cars. He loved to volunteer his time working at the South Wise Services food pantry in Boyd. Buddy also loved to spend time with his friends playing dominoes at the Boyd and Rhome community centers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, H. C. Haynes; his sister, Janie Williams; his son, Ricky Haynes; his granddaughter, Kelly Jo Haynes; and his stepfather, Vester Robey.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Charles Albert Haynes, Jr and wife Margett of Boyd; his daughter, Wendy Moore and husband Arron of Fort Worth; his son, James Edward Haynes of Boyd; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
