Charles Larry Petty

Boyd ~ Charles Larry Petty, 74, a self employed communications specialist, went to be with our Lord Monday, May 12, 2014 in Boyd.

Graveside service is 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Boyd Cemetery . Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Rev. David McMinn will officiate. Pallbearers include Cody Petty, Logan Trundle, Benjamin Schmitz, and Jeffrey Schmitz.

Larry was born on April 21, 1940 to Samuel Benjamin and Claudine ( Jordan ) Petty in Mesquite , Texas . He was united in marriage to Rosemary Hanna on June 30, 2010 in Boyd. Larry served his country and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He installed communication radios for first responders, including Boyd Police Department and Wise County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies. Larry was a Ham Radio operator and loved to play music with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean Burns; and his brother, R.J. Petty.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosemary Petty of Boyd; his daughter, Cindy Schmitz and husband Bill of Bailey Colorado; his sons, Charles Larry Petty, Jr. and wife Ladonna of Springdale, Arkansas, Ray Petty and wife Jami of Decatur; his grandchildren, Maebry, Hudson, Hayden, Trey, Alesha, Ben, and Jeff; 2 great grandchildren; his step children, Christi Horak and husband Steve, Randy McBrayer and wife Sherry, Juli Kirk and husband Kenny; 7 step grandchildren; 15 step great grandchildren; his sisters, Anne Wright, Carla Bezner, and Sandra Newman; his brothers, Sam and Jerry Petty; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
