Denton ~ Charles Robert O’Bryan, 74, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Denton.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Willowwood Church of the Nazarene in Denton with burial following in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Church.
Pastor Mark Ramsey and Pastor Bruce Chamberlain will officiate. Pallbearers include Lael McWilliams, Chris Bennett, Ian Bennett, Jeff Clingenpeel, Justin Brickman, and Jesse Henry. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Bennett, Raymond Karr, Stephen Reeves, James Roman, and Rick Gibbons.
Charles was born on March 20, 1942 to Margaret “Peggy” and Charles Alexander Vierheller in Hollywood, California. He was united in marriage to Florence Davis on April 10, 1990 in Decatur. Among other things, Charles worked to build subway tunnels in Washington, D.C. and the first Apollo rocket in California, worked as a hairdresser, drove an eighteen-wheeler for many years, and retired as the owner of O’Bryan’s Carpet Cleaning before his son, Eric, took over. He was a member of Willowwood Church of the Nazarene in Denton. Charles had a life-long love of airplanes and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive parents, Robert Laird O’Bryan and Marjorie Oberfeld O’Bryan; a sister, Priscilla Peasley; and his first wife, Janice Smith O’Bryan.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Florence Davis O’Bryan of Denton; six daughters, Kelly Karr and husband Raymond of North Carolina, Leslie Bennett and husband Michael of Arkansas, Lori Reeves and husband Stephen of Decatur, Kimberly Clingenpeel and husband Jeff of Oklahoma, Cassie Roman and husband James of Dallas, Amber Henry and husband Jesse of Oklahoma, and Missy Brickman and husband Justin of Oklahoma; three sons, Curtis Perrymore and wife Kim of Bardwell, Eric O’Bryan and wife Dianne of Denton, and Robert O’Bryan and wife Melissa of Denton; 28 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his sisters, Margaret and Sarah, both of New York; his brothers, Errol Vierheller and wife Cecilia of El Salvador, Josh Peasley and wife Rhonda of California, Jonathan Peasley of Arizona; his cousins, Joseph Indrieri, Nick Indrieri, and Tony Indrieri; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his friend and caregiver, Lora Swan; the mothers of his children, Robin Brewster and Charlene Munden; and a host of friends.
